Blake Bliss on Repressed Memories.
You guys probably notice that I post a lot of youtube videos in regards to advice or coping methods in regards to a range of mental health issues! There are so many amazing YouTubers out there, and I thought you guys could benefit from their knowledge, expertise and experience
Downtownpatrol (Laura)- She’s incredible! She deals with Self harm, eating disorders, depression and anxiety as well as the importance of having a good self image, body image and just loving yourself in general! Aside from being funny and easy going, she has some fantastic points and tips for recovery. She’s realistic and real (not to mention she has the coolest hair I’ve ever seen), I think that’s what drew me to her videos. She is a huge influence on this blog and probably one of the things that propelled me to start it in the beginning.
Idranktheseawater (Melissa)- Melissa is probably the first YouTuber whose videos I ever watched in relation to mental health! She deals a lot with eating disorders, self harm and tourettes syndrome. She’s honest and open, again very real! Her eating disorder coping videos are some of the best! Definitely give her a watch. Melissa has also written a book, which is an incredible read and details her struggles with mental illness and self injury (available here)
KatiMorton (Kati)-She’s actually a therapist, and lives by the motto ‘Healthy Mind, Healthy body’. Her videos are informative and direct. She gives so many people so much hope for recovery. She covers a range of mental health issues, but mostly covers topics to do with eating disorders.
xSullengirlx (Christie)- This list wouldn’t be complete without Sullengirl! Christie is a real YouTube veteran, having been around for more then six years! Her videos are insightful, and to me she’s been a real inspiration recovery-wise. Her aim is to spread awareness of self injury and mental health, she actually makes incredible jewellery to promote self injury awareness, (available here). I’ve been lucky enough to speak to Christie once or twice on twitter and she is a truly beautiful person- her channel focuses on struggles with borderline personality disorder, LGBT issues, self harm and mental health in general.
SelfHarmSupport- is a collaboration channel featuring on occasion, some of the above YouTubers. They are a very unique group of individuals from different backgrounds who come together to promote self injury awareness and recovery! I absolutely adore all of them!
PositiveMindProject- Another collaboration channel, (ft. Downtownpatrol) who focus on everything mental health related, from anxiety to eating disorders and depression- these guys have everything you need! They’re a beautiful group of people who are dedicated to helping the world become a better place.
AverageAimee- is one of my newer youtube finds! I definitely wish I’d found her videos sooner! Aimee is a beautiful person and I’ve had the privilege of speaking to her over facebook as well. She is an incredibly strong girl, always smiling. She offers great personal insight into her battles with mental illness and tips to overcome problems and how to stay strong. I just love her! She makes videos about a range of mental health topics including self harm, depression, BPD, PTSD as well as ADHD and her experiences in the mental health system. I would strongly recommend checking out her videos!
BlakeBliss his second channel here (Blake)- I’ve mentioned him before, he (along with Laura) is probably one of my biggest inspirations of all time. He’s a YouTube musician with a series called ‘Beyond Obscurity’ which deals with all of life’s big issues, depression, eating disorders, bullying, sexuality, mental health etc. He has a lot to say on a whole range of topics and I guarantee he will change your life! Give him a look!

Hey everyone, I’m looking for a new contributor/s (one or two) to this blog, a co-admin if you’d like. Preferably someone with experience in mental health situations, whether it be someone who has gone through it themselves or they have studied it. I want Always Hope for a Brighter Future to expand.
They would be posting the inspiring messages, answering some of the questions that come in and providing more general information. (e.g. I’d like to expand to have a page specialised for anxiety, OCD etc) but I can’t do this on my own! I need YOUR HELP!
-This is a pro-recovery blog. Therefore, no triggering pictures or words will be published. e.g. No triggering pictures of self harm, no thinspo or pro-ana posts. That’s not what I am about.
-Regular contributor- I need someone who will update here daily, along with me. I don’t want a person who will flake out after two weeks.
-When answering questions, try to be as empathetic as possible. There is no stupid question asked here. If the person asking the question wishes that it be kept private then we will abide by their wishes.
To apply, just drop me a line of interest either in my ask or my submission box. We can talk from there!
“I plan on dedicating my life to helping others with the same affliction. And I’m gonna dedicate my life to many other things that are gonna help other people transcend through different experiences. And this has made me into a person that’s gonna be able to help so many people because of what I experienced. I can’t even begin to explain how much this has changed my life and how much this is gonna help me help others. I’m gonna be able to take and harness this energy and I’m gonna be able to transform this into something positive to benefit other people, and to benefit my life and to benefit those around me, and to benefit this Earth. I’m gonna be the best me I can be. I’m gonna help as many people as I can. And I’m gonna try and provide as much light, love and support to those around me…. ”
